This is the winter solstice; the first day of the Cardinal sign Capricorn. Cardinal signs symbolize external change; Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. The first day of these signs is the first day of each season. Astrology was born in lands that had four seasons between Mesopotamia and Egypt.
These are of course agrarian symbols that are messengers, heralds, chanticleers and symbols. They predate science. They are the mother of science. None of us would be here without farmers who ingeniously observed repeating celestial patterns to know when to plant seeds and feed the family.
