Mercury turns retrograde at 24° Capricorn December 29, 2022. Mercury turns direct at 8° Capricorn January 18, 2023.
Considering the near-tragic events traveling by airplane, auto, and train just around this past Christmas, this mercury retrograde probably doesn’t bode well for clearing up our travel issues.
In the Northern Hemisphere Capricorn can indicate still frozen ground, highways, and runways. Please expect that some people will feel that they are being pushed closer to an edge. So, all in all — this mercury retrograde seems to bait the susceptible into madness because things are not automatic and robotic.
St. Augustine said the reward for patience, is patience. This does not sound like our modern world. This advice sounds anachronistic. However, we are a small piece of a very large puzzle, so slowing down, seeing the humor, and being patient works better than verbal or physical harm and madness.
Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Pluto are all lined up here in Capricorn. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. Impetuous impulsive Mars can be seen as the complement or the opposite of methodical Saturn.
If you don’t have to travel during these dates then forego the expense, frustration, and the general craziness. If you must travel find all the sensible ways to enjoy the unexpected delays and general confusion. By all means if you can avoid shopping right now, especially for electronic goods then you will sleep better and enjoy food more.
The themes of Capricorn are quite poignant here. Capricorn is cautious, careful, constructive, organized and excels at planning.
If you choose to be more like Mars than Saturn, you will likely pay a higher price for what you think you need. Where Mars is impetuous, Saturn is careful, cautious, and considers what may possibly go sideways or even wrong.
On the other hand you may find lost items. Friends and acquaintances from a previous era may show up. Delays may in fact work in your favor. People are always shocked to find out that meetings when finally convened go better than expected. This is quite good time to find the new thing, journey , or a friend etc., show up because things are not straightforward. When there are no surprises there is no life.
