Attention astrologers; please relocate this new Moon as per your location and TimeZone.
This new Moon one of 12 every year occurs in the sign of Cancer. { 24°}.
Every and all new moons symbolically represent an opportunity to release past grievances, failures, hurts, dislocations, projections and rejections. In other words it’s often been said that we are as sick as our secrets, and that the ability to exit the past is our best indication of mental and spiritual health.
Moody romantic Cancer is the domain of the Moon. The Crescent symbol the moon can remind us of the crucible bowl, a totality of our experiences. Cancer is the collective — the accumulation of 10,000 facts, remembrances, experiences, the collective memory, and the cultural experience of every person.
As the British poet, T.S. Eliot said; “The immature poet imitates, the mature poet steals.”
This is a watery and cardinal new moon. Water waits. The river meets an obstacle — a fallen log. The river builds a pressure and finally moves the log out-of-the-way. Cardinality indicates the need to change external conditions; like spitting a baby out of the womb that first scream at the light, the next marriage, the new home, the great new job, or a canoeing adventure in the roiling waters.
We are in a new era of imagined helplessness — just like the old era of imagined helplessness. The Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung used astrology to uncover and rule out his own biases. The modern version of astrology seems to be an attempt to enshrine our learned helplessness.
Above all, this new Moon poses an absolutely essential question.
What do I nurture?
Do I nurture a progressive vision of my talents, or retreat angrily into the cave, waiting to punish all those who hurt us or diminish us? If you are thinking of quitting any habit or addiction that is harming yourself, your body, or others — the next 14 days will make it relatively easy and rewarding to do so. Is your mammal body something you drag from room to room, or is it your warm puppy?
